Question 2. How to get email marketing messages read.
Answer: The first hurdle in getting your email marketing messages read is considering how it will look in a client's overcrowded inbox. You have to structure it carefully to differentiate it from all the spam and other garbage. When a client is scanning their inbox, their first thought is: is this from friend or foe? If your address sounds legit, the message has jumped the first hurdle.
Consequently, your email address is very important. It's best to use your name or that of your business. Your email address shouldn't be weird, cute, or anything in between. People only become enraged when they see cutesy or bizarre from fields. Your creativity will invite a visit to the delete button, nothing more.
Remember, you're conducting business. Strive for professionalism.
The Subject Line
Many of your potential clients don't know you from the dark side of the moon. With that in mind, your subject line should make your reason for emailing them plain. If your subject line is blank, cute, weird or mysterious it will be deleted instantly.
Spammers have blank, cute, weird, and mysterious subject lines.
The Message
Tell the customer what you want. Period. Don't waffle in lengthy monologues that no one wants to read. You have 200 words max (that's how much will fit in one screen). If the customer doesn't understand what your selling after a quick scan, they're not going to read it twice.
Make your message short and snappy.
Don't send attachments
"Attachment" is synonymous with "virus". Don't attach anything because (number 1) it's not going to get opened, and (number 2) it's a stamp on your credibility that shrieks "SPAMMER!"
